We had a frustrating experience with room availability upon check-in. Additionally, the room I finally received was decommissioned, which could have been avoided if staff had the authority to assist properly.

The spacious restaurant offered fantastic views of the river, and I was lucky enough to spot some hippos during my evening meals. Dining outside on the verandah was a real treat, with a cozy vibe and great food. The self-catering chalet I stayed in was clean and well-equipped with air conditioning. However, I dealt with quite a bit of noise from other guests. Children turned the lovely restaurant ambiance into a playground, making it hard to enjoy the meal after a long day. I also had issues with the chalet. despite having beautiful grounds, there were unfortunate maintenance problems. Things fell from the roof at night, which made for an uncomfortable stay. The location is great, but better management of noisy guests would greatly enhance the atmosphere.

hippo hollow country estate is a gorgeous spot by the river. we loved watching elephants from our chalet with river views, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. every morning, breakfast was served with a smile, and the vibe at the pool was perfect for relaxation. it's a fantastic place for wildlife lovers!

Peaceful stay with amazing views

We had a wonderful time at the chalet with river views. It was so nice waking up to nature! The grill area was a plus for our evening hangouts. Just wish the wifi was a bit faster, though. Otherwise, it was chill and relaxing. Oh, and don’t miss trying the bar area, the vibe is perfect!

The stay was memorable, particularly due to the friendly staff who catered excellently to our dietary needs and heightened the celebratory atmosphere for my birthday. Breakfast featured homemade bread that was delightful, and enjoying my meal with views of elephants and a tranquil setting made it even more special. However, there were occasional disturbances from loud children in the dining area, and the noise from other guests at times disrupted the peacefulness expected in such a setting.

It was a great match for spending a night in Hazyview with great value for the money. The Shangana River Club had a spectacular performance and excellent food that made the evening special for my family. Check your bill carefully to avoid any surprises at checkout.
